While King’s Theatre dominates the 2 to 2m 4f divisions, Flemensfirth is siring Bumper winners to Gold Cup winners and as the highest priced NH stallion, currently €10,000 he is entitled to have his fair share of success.
The last month has yielded three new Graded winners, firstly Flemenstar blew the opposition away in a romp of the Grade 1 Arkle Novice Chase at Leopardstown over 2m 1f and then Invictus became the latest star for his sire when returning to form in style when landing the Grade 2 Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase at Ascot over 3m. Medical Card has improved with racing and bravely landed the Grade 2 Woodlands Park 100 Club Novice Chase for Noel Meade at Naas. Young juvenile hurdler, Meister Eckhart who was previously unbeaten in two bumpers and a hurdle battled on gamely to finish third in the Grade 2 Prestige Novices’ Hurdle in heavy ground at Haydock.
Meister Eckhartis just the latest blacktype performer bred on the Flemensfirth/Buckskin cross. This cross has already produced Tail of The Bank and Beshabar.
Last weekend saw Flemensfirth produce a 1, 2, 3 in a useful looking bumper at Navan in which Sizing Gold for Henry de Bromhead battled on to beat Defy Logic a newcomer for Mrs J. Magnier. Donald McCain looks to have a promising horse in the shape of Sydney Paget who made it 3 wins from 4 starts in a Novice Hurdle at Ayr and on Sunday, Cross The Flags, a half-sister to Synchronised won a mares handicap hurdle in good style at Ffos Las.
Willie Mullins has a particularly useful looking recruit named Hats And Heels. His dam is a Simply Great half-sister to Cheltenham bumper winner Joe Cullen and he was third in a Listed bumper at Navan before winning his novice hurdle impressively last month.
Flemensfirth is averaging a healthy 32% winners to runners with his chases this season as he has had 25 winners from 78 runners amassing nearly £500,000 in prize money.
