This afternoon's jumps meeting at Exeter goes ahead following an inspection.

The ground is described as heavy.

Clerk of the course Barry Johnson said: "We had 20 millimetres of rain overnight, but it has been dry since 5am and it is given to stay dry now right through racing."

He added: "It is heavy ground, we have taken out two fences and one hurdle and the groundstaff have moved over a mile of running rail to get over the worst of it - it's been a massive effort.

"They will splash through a bit of water in places but it is perfectly safe."
