Race Verdict

Early-season three-year-old handicaps can be trappy until the form settles down and caution is advised. Rusty Rocket has a win to his name this term but isn't easy to catch right and Wicked Wench (engaged to run at Sandown yesterday) has to prove she's as effective on turf as on an artificial surface. Lupo D'Oro (engaged to run at Doncaster yesterday) finished just over two lengths behind Rusty Rocket in the midlands but was noted running on steadily and could emerge a different proposition here. However, MITCHUM went quite nicely behind Es Que Love at Pontefract and the subsequent success of the winner suggests the form is strong. A good run is expected.

Selection: Mitchum        Danger: Lupo D'Oro        Alternative: Rusty Rocket
