Race Verdict

Bartolomeu will need to step up on his narrow victory in a modest 7f Lingfield maiden if he's to make a winning handicap off a mark of 80, but the drop back in trip will certainly suit, a comment that also applies to UPRISE. The Pivotal gelding showed signs of ability in three outings over 7f and 1m last year and enters the handicap ranks on a very workable mark of 73, with Sir Michael Stoute's team beginning to find some form now. Having made the frame on all four starts since recording a double over 7f here in February, Homeward Strut is a must for the shortlist as well.

Selection: Uprise        Danger: Bartolomeu        Alternative: Homeward Strut
