Race Verdict

Pilgrims Rest sprung a surprise on his reappearance at Newbury, with the immediate four behind him all going into the race in winning form, and three of those having the benefit of a previous outing in 2012. He has shot up 9lb, though, so is passed over in favour of TOUCH GOLD, who makes his handicap debut after his stamina gave way over 1m3f at Newbury, and Sir Henry Cecil has stuck him in the St James's Palace Stakes. District Attorney also steps out of maiden company for the first time and is interesting as well.

Selection: Touch Gold        Danger: Pilgrims Rest        Alternative: District Attorney
