Hunter Certificates

Before your horse can compete in a Point-to-Point, it has to fulfil certain eligibility criteria and hold a valid Hunter Certificate. The Racing Desk at Weatherbys, working closely in conjunction with the Point-to-Point Authority (PPA), is responsible for registering Hunter Certificates and checking that each horse meets the eligibility criteria as laid down by the British Horseracing Authority.

Hunter certificates must be lodged, along with payment, no later than 12 noon on Friday to allow an entry to be made the following week. Entries are normally made a week in advance of each Point-to-Point meeting, so from submission of the Hunter Certificate to your horse coming under starter’s orders usually takes a fortnight. To download a Hunter Certificate, click here.

The Racing Desk also administers registration of Point-to-Point sponsorship and the authorisation of the keeper to be able to enter and declare horses in Point-to-Points on behalf of the owner. The team also sends out weekly lists of qualified entries to Point-to-Point entry secretaries, dispatches the annual Point-to-Point and Hunter Chase Race Planner – Point-to-Pointing’s “programme book” – and provides weekly and annual statistics to the PPA.

Through a shared Venture with the Point-to-Point Authority, our subsidiary, The Point-to-Point Racing Company Ltd, offers entry and publishing services for British Point-to-Point Racing.
