Statistical Services

The Weatherbys database contains a wealth of information regarding the participants, equine and human, of the racing and breeding industries. This allows us to provide detailed statistical analysis on a variety of topics.

Pride of place amongst these is the annual compendium of industry data compiled and published on behalf of the British Horseracing Authority. Entitled ‘British Racing Statistics’, this can be downloaded from the BHA’s website and provides a cornucopia of facts and figures on breeding, ownership, training, racecourses and employment.

Our role as Stakeholder, co-ordinating the receipt of funds and payment of prize money, also allows us to produce with complete accuracy the Owners Championship tables as published on the web and in the Racing Post. On a monthly basis we also compile the Racecourse Prize Money League Table for publication in the Thoroughbred Owner & Breeder magazine.

A cornerstone of BHA policy is ensuring the welfare of ex-racehorses. Weatherbys assist here by providing the industry approved charity Re-Training of Racehorses with a monthly synopsis of future careers. This is derived from information supplied from training yards when a horse leaves training and also from new ownership registrations through our Passport Issuing Office (Stud Book). Many ex-racehorses have gone on to enjoy varied careers after leaving racing.

Did you know...

in 2012, over 18,500 different horses raced at over 1,360 meetings winning prize money worth almost £98 million?
